Paver Patio Build in Progress - Here's Where We're At

This one is coming along nicely. We're mid-install on a paver patio for a two-story home with a walk-out lower level, and the bones of this project are looking really solid. The compacted gravel base is prepped and screeded - that's the critical stage most people never see but it's what determines how well a patio holds up for years down the road.

A lot goes into getting the base right. We're talking proper excavation depth, compacted aggregate, and a screeded sand layer that keeps everything level and stable. Skip those steps and you end up with a patio that shifts, sinks, or cracks. We don't cut corners on the foundation - ever.

The pavers are already laid across a good portion of the space, and you can see the charcoal blend we're working with. Dark, clean, and bold. It's going to pair really well with the white brick exterior and existing upper deck. The pattern and layout are intentional - this isn't just plopping pavers down and calling it a day.

We've also got retaining wall work happening along the left side of the yard - stacked block steps and a tiered wall system to manage the grade change. That kind of detail makes the difference between a backyard that functions and one that just looks good in photos.

We're excited to show the finished product. Patio installations like this one take time to do right, and we're not rushing it. Stay tuned.
